In an effort to clarify the Drew Peterson gun case, Geraldo Rivera said that short barreled rifles are illegal because the short length makes them "more lethal" due to the barrel length's "ability to cause the bullets to make bigger holes due to the shotgun effect". He also said the only way to shorten the length was to saw the barrel off.

When another attorney tried to explain that all you needed to do was swap the AR's upper, Geraldo nearly shouted him down and continued to call it a "sawed off rifle".

And he supposedly is a self-proclaimed weapons expert???
