My rifle shoots nice little groups with a 180 gr Nosler ballistic tip and 76.5 gr of RL-22. I have a box of 180 gr Accubonds that I would like to try. Am I likely to find the best load for the Accubonds in the vicinity of 76.5 gr or do I need to check the whole range of charge weight? Of course I would load a few working up from the min to check for over pressure.

You forgot to tell us what cartridge you are loading for and any other details that would be helpful. So what cartridge, what rifle, the OAL you are seating them at. Also indicate where you are in relation to the lands if possible.

my a-bolt in .30-06 will shoot 165 grain ballistic tips (green tip) and 165 grain accubonds to the same POA with no adjustments.

In my experience, they shoot to the same point of aim. In the Nosler manual they have the exact same BC.

Thanks for the replies. Rifle is Ruger Hawkeye chambered in .300 win mag. The bullet is seated to the maximum length that will feed in the magazine, which places them considerably off the lands.

I saw that the BTs and Accubonds have the same bc, but the accubond is listed as .020" longer oal. It is reassuring to hear that they shoot to the same point for some folks. I will load a few at lower charges to check for pressure, but focus on 76 to 77 grains.

When I did this test in a 270 WSM I found the Accubond to have a slightly different ogive length (probably not enought to matter), and it was a little softer- I assume from the bonding process. I'd chrony the same velocity with the AB with 1gr more powder than it took in the BT.
