I'm currently loading up some 300 WM using winchester large rifle magnum primers, RE-22 and 180 gr Nosler Accubonds, I don't have a suggested load for this in my manuals an was hoping some of you may have worked up a load for this combination, I have loaded up some 180 gr Grandslams with 77 gr of RE22, my speer manual lumps all makes of bullets into there loads based on weight, my Lyman 48th edition has them broke down by weight and make, it only list two 180 grain bullets though, a Barnes X and a HPBT, the accubond is a boat tail also so I figured the load info for the listed HPBT would be about the same but would like any info from anyone thats played with this load. I currently loaded up ten rounds lastnight using 74gr of RE22, with the accubond, has anyone got an pet loads for this combo, my rifle is a Browning gold medalion A-bolt. I hope I wasn't to confusing, thanks.
Chris

The Lee book bunches bullets by weight also. For 180gr jacketed bullet and RE22 it shows a start measure of 71.8 and a never exceed of 76.9. So your 10 loads at 74gr seems to be right in the middle. I haven't loaded for the 300 yet so no pet loads just wanted to let you know that the Lee manual seems to think your loads will be ok.

First I"m not guessing at anything, my Speer reloading manual shows a max load for 180gr grandslam to be 77.5 gr of RE22, I usually take the max and the min and split the difference to start out at. I would have just got the 180 grandslams an go with a load that I know works, but the reloading shop here I use is out of them and hasn't been able to get any for awhile so figured I'd try the accubonds out.

This doesn't directly address your question because I haven't worked up any 180 gr loads, but RE22 proved to be the most consistently accurate powder in my Mod. 700 .300 Mag, producing sub-MOA groups with the Nosler 200 gr partition. Best groups were pretty much right up at the published max loads.

DickM, RE22 is all I use in my 300, just easier to use one powder and I like the way it shoots, I've got a great bean field round using 125grain Nosler ballistic tip, great all around deer round using 150gr Win Silver tips and a good elk round using the 180gr Grandslams, I've also got a decent bear round using 200gr Partitions but haven't got to test it out yet, one of the reasons I love the 300 is its so versatile.

Use your chronograph and stop when you get to a listed max velocity for your powder in anyone's book, or when you get any sign of high pressure, whichever comes first.
