Originally had a similar named topic in the firearms accessories section but hoping to get more input here. If it needs to be moved or merged I apologize. I placed my order for the green TR24 a while back and its due to arrive later this week so now I need to get serious about finding the correct mount.

Went and visited my local shops and found most do not carry the top tier one piece mounts. I was able to find the Burris pepr but it wasn't mounted so no help there. Another shop I visited had a GG&G with an TR24 mounted atop one of their custom ARs. I believe it was this model: www.gggaz.com/ac-30-accucam-qd-scope-mounting-base.html
They unfortunately didn't carry any other brands.

So now I'm left wondering if I should go with the combo I've seen firsthand or this model: www.gggaz.com/flt-scope-mount.html which according to the description was designed with1-4 variables in mind. Or go with the Bobro or Larues sight unseen. All of the specs and prices seem similar.

I'm leaning towards what I've tested locally and it also seems the lightest albeit minimally. My only concern is it lists the mount as being able to return to with 1/2 moa of zero while the competitors just list theirs as being able to return to zero. Not sure if this is just being truthful and providing more detailed information (a good thing) or if their mount design is inferior.

Any help, insight, or experiences. Just wondering how to go about finding the right mount without trial and error.

I am doing the same thing with the same optic.googling and ARFdotcom and M4 carbine.net has resulted in the Larue SPR-E is the way to go, and leaves you some wiggle room.

That is the route I am going for my AR10 carbine.

The Burris PEPR is a pretty popular mount because it is good and it's inexpensive. The major drawback is that it is not of the quick detach variety; although the return to zero isn't bad, if you use a torque wrench to install it and use the same amount of torque every time. My local optics retailer sells a lot of the PEPR mounts and they've told me that they've had good results with them. They are a high end optics shop, so that means something.

I've never used the GG&G mount, but have used LaRue, American Defense and Bobro. They are all good and pretty much return to zero very well. The major differences are in their locking mechanisms.

With the LaRue, you're going to have to take care to adjust it according to the instructions. If you have it too tight, it can/will mar your upper receiver. You will also need a wrench to adjust the mount. If you decide to mount the optic on a different rifle or change positions on the rail, you'll need the wrench to adjust it. The one thing that I don't like about the LaRues (and I don't know if this has changed) is that of the two levers, only one has a safety lock on it and this lock really isn't hard to disengage. On my scopes that have mounts with one one lever, I've actually had the scope fall off of the rifle twice, due to the safety becoming disengaged and something (probably a sling) pulling out on the lever. Admittedly, I've never heard of anyone else complain about this. I just seem to be one of those people that this sort of stuff happens to.

With the American Defense, you don't need any tools to adjust it; but due to the nature of the way that you adjust the mount, many have often found that you have to decide on having the mount a tad on the loose side or having it so tight that you need to use something like a shoe lace or section of cord to open the levers. I've preferred the American Defense mounts and do have to use a piece of cord to open the levers. On the couple of occasions that I've needed to remove the scope in the field, I just used the edge of my shirt tail.

The Bobro mount is very nice and doesn't require any adjusting; but, again, due to the nature of the mechanism, the latch area is a bit on the wide side. If you can live with that, the Bobro is probably the most idiot proof of those that I mentioned. If you are interested in the Bobro, I'd recommend that you shop those that have been rebranded for Trijicon. You can usually get a better price on those.

i've been considering the same mounts lately for a future project. tonyangel, thanks for the info on all. that clears a few things up for me and will make my choice easier.

Thanks for the info Tonyangel. Right now I'm thinking of going for the PEPR with the qd. Might be good enough for me and costs about half as much. If that doesn't work out I could probably sell it and maybe go for the Bobro since that looks the best to me on paper.
