I'm another fan of the Zastava made .22. This one is the discontinued Remington Model 5 branded version with a 16" barrel.

However, I'm a fan of many .22s.

Cabelas is going to have the Savage Mark II BVXP with heavy barrel & accutrigger for $199 on black friday. Thats a really really good deal. Makes me wish I would have held off buying the Savage GXP and for $50 more I could have the BVXP :(

I like my old marlin, full size, very good shooter. Haven't bought myself a new .22 rifle in nearly 2 decades.

I did gift a 10/22 semi-auto that when accurized was an amazing shooter. Just two problems with that, weight and a $600 rifle.

Were I to buy one today I would likely go with another Marlin (great price to performance ratio) maybe a CZ for a nice looking shooter (seen a few at the range shoot some tight groups).

I'm very interested in buying this rifle but I do not see any information on the sale on the Cabellas web cite. How did you know about the sale?

You just can't beat the heavy barrel Savage MkII bolt action with wood stock. The wood stock is part of the key here. It is much more stable under various temperature and weather conditions. I believe you can get one with a heavy barrel for around $300. When you find the ammo it likes best, It will out shoot rifles costing many times as much. Even better, get one of the thumb hole stocks and glass bed it. No fooling! These things are shooters!!!

If you don't mind single shot, CDNN had gotten in another load of Russian CM-2 target rifles for $279.

Mine is sweet... 1.5lb trigger pull, peep sights. A great accurate target rifle.
