Greetings,

Got an ACOG TA11F.

In the manual they say the ACOG has been calibrated to be mounted on the carry handle and almost no adjustments should be necessary to get the zero at 100 yards.

Question #1: This ACOG comes with the TA51 flat top mount. Does it mean I disregard the statement from the book about the calibration on carry handle and this one is calibrated for flat top?

Question #2: I have a RRA elite tactical. If #1 does not apply, does that mean the zero will be close using the tactical carry handle?

Question #3: If #2 does nto apply because it is still too low, would it be a good solution to use a see-through raiser mount and mount the ACOG on it? Moreover, using the see-through mount, will it make the rear sight usable without having to remove the ACOG if not using it?

I am just trying to get some question out of the way, so I don't lose too much time at the range or buy some stuff that does not work. I know some of you have ACOG and use "winning" setups". I want to hear about those.

Thank you

I believe the TA11F is calibrated for .223 (unsure of the exact load and barrel length... thought it was 55gr/20", but recently have heard it is 62gr/14.5") from a flat top. Just mount it straight on the flat top rail, zero at 100yd, and you should be good to go. That is how I have mine set up at least.

If you look through the ACOG and get close enough to see the back ring inside the scope, is anything written below the visible area? "223F" perhaps?

My understanding is that it is calibrated for 62gr M855 from a 14.5 barrel with a flattop mount.

You can use either setup. If you have a flat-top, use the TA51 mount or a LaRue mount.

You should be able to zero it with either setup-- if you can't something is most likely wrong with the upper or how you are mounting it (ie a mechanical problem).

In theory, if you have a difference of 1" sight over bore distance and a 100-yard zero, your POI will diverge from the expected bullet path by 1" per additional 100 yards past 100 yards.
