If i recall, none of the ACOGs have integral mounts. They have their own proprietary way of securing into a type of cradle which are available in several different types (carry handle, Flat top, Quick-throw, Ect.).
If you're talking about the base model optic, then yes, you should be able to purchase an adapter for either type of rifle.
All the ACOGs I've seen had integral AR-15 carry handle mounts machined into them. The rail adapters use that as the interface between the rail and the ACOG optic.

If you have a regular "carry handle" AR just remove the two screws from the bottom of the "rail grabber" mount then install the ACOG in the carry handle and use a locking lever screw (usually included when buying a new ACOG) to secure it to the handle...
Have two; a 1.5 x 24 and a 3 x 30. The 1.5x came with the machined in carry handle base only. The 3x had that plus the rail adapter (TA-60?) factory mounted to it which I removed.
Plus some of the ACOGs like those above only mount with one screw; I believe some have two.
