Im in the beginning stages of building a .416 Weatherby and am looking at my options for an action. CZ makes an action long enough and affordable so thats a viable option. But since i have a C&R i was hoping to get something that i could have shipped to my front door. Maybe a Pre-64 model 70 or FN Browning actions that would work for this project? Thanks for any help guys.

Ever thought of a 1917 Enfield?

If you could find one that was beaten up or not in collector grade condition they are about as strong as an action as can be found. You could probably get the entire rifle for what most actions cost from the factory.

I dont think a 1917 Enfield would work because the cartridge is to long for it.

I thought about a #1 Ruger but i want a bolt action. What companies out there produce new actions that a guy can build on for the $500-$800 range?

Look into the Montana Arms 99 action and Stiller's Predator action. Both fall into your price range. The CZ action is fantastic though and you'd have a difficult time finding something better for less than $800.
