I have a Colt 6920 with the standard 6" M4 style handguard. I am looking to add accessory rails, and I've heard that there are rails that will bolt onto the top and bottom of the handguard where the holes are.

Can anyone recommend where to find these rails? I'm a bit new to the "lego" aspect and could use some advice.

Magpul's MOE handguard is another lightweight, versatile option with enough do-dads available to customize to your heart's content. They are economical enough to have several, allowing you to prep several and swap as needed.

I was hoping to not change the handguard, just add rails to the one I have, so the first option (the primary arms rail) may be a good one. How do they attach?

Bolts through the ventlation & cooling holes that are already there.

Then your cooling holes are stopped up with bolts & rails!

I hadn't thought about that. Is that a significant problem?

Do handguard replacements like the magpul or the other one just snap on once the other one comes off via the d-ring?

depends on how fast you shoot (how hot you get the barrel). i've got an aluminum free float tube handguard on an AR that is primarily for hunting. it doesn't have any ventilation holes except the opening at the gas block. if i plink with it much, it'll get pretty warm.

yes, the magpul MOE handguard and the leaper's quad-rail that RC posted are both drop-in replacements for the stock handguard

i'm not sure what your intended use for the rifle is, but it's hard to go wrong with the MOE.

As this was my first AR, I decided to start out learning with iron sights. Now, I'm thinking about removing the carry handle to place an optic and backup rear "iron" site on there. In the front, I really want another grip and possibly a light.
