I'm quickly realizing that this place certainly doesn't match my idea of what "Blackpowder Shooting" is all about.

It seems that there is very little interest here in the history and traditions that are a critical part of muzzleloading. Most people here seem to me to just be looking to add to their hunting season by pushing the envelope of what is considered a muzzleloader. Like I've said here before, I believe muzzleloading seasons should be limited to flintlock or earlier, firing a patched round ball. This was the original intention of muzzleloading seasons...a hunt using the weapons and gear of yesteryear. Today the manufacturers of these modern so-called "muzzleloaders" have raped the meaning of these seasons just to sell more junk. They have no respect for the original intent of the season. To me, muzzleloading is about re-living a much simpler time, without the commercialization so rampant in everything else in modern times.

Personally, I hunt with a flintlock during every season except bow season. Then it's a longbow and wooden arrows. Hell, I don't even own a modern firearm. Haven't in more than 15 years. And with a little bit of dedication, I manage to fill my freezer every year. I don't remember the last time I bought (or even ate) beef.

These in&*^% abominations, fake powders and plastic-sheathed copper jacketed pistol bullets have no place in a traditional season. If you want to use them during a modern firearms season, fine. But don't leave your garbage all over our ranges and woods. Quite honestly, I'm sick to my stomach seeing all the plastic crap that gets left on the ground.

Like I said, I've come to realize that this site just isn't for me. Therefore, I have just one thing left to say
