Adjust priming on SDB? help

I don’t remember an adjustment, are you sure your shell plate is tight enough?

Empty the shell plate and push forward on the handle, does the anvil the primer sits on come above the bottom of the shell plate like this?

If so, it is a lack of force, causing not fully seated primers ( a flexible bench top doesn’t help either).

30 years or so ago, I got in a habit of putting two fingers around the steel primer tube blast shield and squeezing them into the pocket vs just pushing forward.

Like this.

If you don’t have the anvil fully seated in the aluminum block before you tighten the setscrew, you will just destroy the plastic tip on the primer tube. Your not going to find happiness if it’s not fully seated.

let me look… one sec

here it is. I’m going to bolt down my press tighter and try the 2 finger technique

To the best of my knowledge, there is no such adjustment. If your primers are not seated deeply enough, I believe either A) something is broken, B) your primers are not compatible with your cases, or C) you just aren't trying hard enough.

At least in my house, C is the usual culprit. The SDB doesn't produce a whole lot of mechanical advantage, and I've got little girly arms.
