I want an 8-shot .357 mag revolver, with a bbl 3" or less. I have been mini-drooling over the S&W Model 327, but as usual, S&W prices about 30-50% more than they should for their handguns...their website asks a list price of $1185 for the Night Guard. They go UP from there.
Can anyone provide me with information (and possibly a link) regarding a gun that would compete with the S&W 327?

*Now, let me add that the reason I like the 327 is that I KNOW the overall quality is there, but I just don't believe that S&W has the market cornered on quality.

So, if you OWN or have SHOT a revolver that would equal the workmanship and manageability of the 327, please help me out here.

One last tidbit-one reason I like the idea of the 327 is that it is a GREAT ankle holster carry for SD. I know it has a kick, but so what? It won't be my 'match gun!':rolleyes:
Thanks for any help.

S&W is it. Taurus has an 8-shot revolver but I believe it's only 4 and 6" barrels and it's stainless.

No offense but how big are you? Unless you're about 6' 10 and 300lbs there's no way you can carry an N frame in an ankle holster!

EDIT: I see you're in California, so there is no CCW, I'll take the ankle holster was a joke. You got me...

The MSRP is unlikely to be the actual "street" price. If your dealer really charges MSRP it is charging too much.

Correct. I've noted that the actual street price for most guns is around 25% less than the MSRP, give or take 5%. So figure on $850 - $900.

And for that price, I'd prefer a nice blued 3.5" S&W Model 27, but that's just me.

Aaaarrrgggh! How bought a nice skinny, 6 shot 357 and something like an LCP or P238 in your pocket just in case? Whoops, sorry just read the part about California. You need 8 shots with a lot of power? those 8 shot revolvers are really clunky heavy things to deal with how bought a 10mm semi auto.

An 8 shot .357 J frame?

o.k. I'd like one to go with my car that gets 35 mpg, corners like a Ferrari and can tow my 19 ft. boat, while transporting me and 4 other friends. ;)

The only way you're getting 8 shots out of J frame, is if it's a .22lr.

You're going to have to make some consessions.

Either a bigger gun, or a smaller caliber.

351pd = .22 mag!
