Just found this site and glad I did. Seems to be a lot of great info here.
I need some help with a scope/sight decision. I have a Glenfield Marlin Model 60 and I want to put a inexpensive scope or sight on it for varmit/plinking/target shooting. I am confused and need some advice. I have browsed the forums and cant seem to get a clear idea of what exactly I need. I am leaning towards a red dot sight because of price and simplicity. I need to stay sub-$75 buck range.

This looks like it fits the bill, but I am not sure what the different mounts mean. I know I have the grooved mounting area for a scope, but does that translate to a Integrated Weaver Style ? or do I need to look for something different?
What is the effective accurate range of this type of rifle? and will a red dot take me to that range? Should I stick with a red dot or go with a more conventional type of scope? If so what should I look for?
