I will be getting a savage model 11 (blued with synthetic) this month. It comes with a simmons 3-9x40mm scope, is this scope decent? I also have a Buckridge 4-12x40mm (yeah, its cheap, but it's free), is the Buckridge any better (better= durability, clarity, etc.)? Are there any tricks to accurizing a Savage? Any advice?

Anyway, my original question: I plan on loading 140 grain Nosler Balistic tips in front of Varget with winchester brass. Are there any other powders I should try as well? What seating depth do most 7mm-08's like? This is my second gun I'm loading for, so I'm still a newbie. Just looking for your wisdom.
Thank you in advance,
Michaelmcgo

I love Ramshot Hunter. Easy metering and temperature stable. My load is any 140 grain bullet over a charge of 49 grains. Sub-MOA in my gun at about 2775 fps (22 inch barrel).:D

Caliber: 7mm-08 Remington.
Barrel length: 24”
Powder: Ramshot - HUNTER
Bullet weight: 120grains.
Start load: 50.0grains (2800–2900 Ft/p/sec)
Maximum load: 55.0grains (3100 – 3200 Ft/p/sec).
Bullet weight: 140 grains.
Start load: 47.0grains (2700 - 2800 ft/p/sec)
Maximum load: 51.0 grains (2850-2950ft/p/sec).
Bullet weight: 160 grains.
Start load: 44.0grains (2500 - 2600 ft/p/sec)
Maximum load: 48.0 grains (2700-2800ft/p/sec).
Bullet weight: 175 grains.
Start load: 42.0grains (2400 - 2500 ft/p/sec)
Maximum load: 46.0 grains (2600 - 2700ft/p/sec).

Thanks for the info Lenny. I bought some Hunter to try in my 7mm-08 but charge info is hard to come by. For some reason Ramshot only lists loads using "Big Game" for 140g bullets. I went with the Hunter though since the burn rate closely matches my current favorite powder for the 7mm-08, Reloader 19, plus I've read lots of good reviews. What I don't like about the RL19 is metering it.

Cheap scopes! Been there done that drrin the last 48 years. They will fail a lot sooner than later, and it will probably be on a hunting trip. Not worth the waste of effort. Get a Leupold, American made for your lifetime (Now thats cheap!)

The 140 is excellent, but i prefere Partition. the old standard powders were H414, H380, and W-760. However, the Ramshot powders are getting excellent review
