Hi,
I have a new Model 617 and find it difficult to see target at 50ft at indoor range. A friend let me try his 22LR semi with Red Dot Scope. What a differnce! My 617 has two bored holes so I thing I can by a scope mounting plate along with a Red Dot. Any suggestions what to buy or where to look on internet. Thanks!

Get this mount:

If you liked the red dot on your friend's gun, why not get the same one he has? I used a Tasco PDP3 on my revolver and was more than happy. Wore that scope for 5 years, then took it off to shoot ICORE/IPSC. Pretty much any red dot over $100 will be good.

If you would like a smaller size, less weight, and your pocketbook can afford it, I would recommend a holographic sight, such as the Bushnell Holosite, Ultradot, or C-More, or EOTech.

I love my ultra-dot 2moa dot sight. It sits on a SIG trailside and really helps maximize the pistol's potential.

Ultradot.

This isn't a 617 (its a 625) but I've got the exact same setup on my 617-1, 6" barrel, I just don't have a photo handy.

It is a Leupold base and rings with a 1" Ultradot sight. I got them off ebay for $120 for both. The 30mm sight is nice, but not necessary for target use. I've got the four-dot version on my target gun, but that is also not really necessary, just nice.

You can get the 1" version for $125 new from Larry's guns.

I shoot a lot and have never had a problem with this rig loosening up or losing zero.

Just my $0.02
