Hi Everyone; flexible here. Been shooting trap & skeet for almost 2 years now and my brother got the bug also. I have a Blaser F3 but my brother is way short of cash.
Any recommendations for him? He's looking for a gas auto in 12 gauge for informal trap & skeet shooting.
thanks

In the center of this pic is a 1100 sporting competition. It has served me very well. The adjustable stock will accommodate just about anyone. I cant imagine how anyone wouldnt lime this gun. I have broke 100x100 with it at trap also. My son broke 50x50 with it the first day he shot it.

I shot both games very well for many years with a standard field Rem 1100 with a 28" rem-choke barrel. Not optimal as far as head position for either game, but a good compromise for a tight budget.

Had a guy wanting to sell his used Beretta 391 Gold Sporting auto to me today, wanted $600 for it. I know him, probably has shot maybe 12,000 rounds through it, just broke in, runs light 7/8oz loads. Has a few bumps and scratches on it. Extra choke tubes. Now if you can find something like that it would serve your brother well. 1100/11-87 would be my first choice for a cheaper Sporting clays gun.

$600 is, IMO pushing it for a dedicated clay gun, even a used semi. You might find a great deal if you look REAL hard, but even an older great Beretta 300, 390, 391 might be a tad more.

A used 1100 in good shape is a good choice, and tell him to start saving up for that 1100 Sporting Competition like AF's. The top gun at our club shoots one of those also. For now, I'm stuck with using my 870 Tactical magnum as my Trap gun:

I get funny looks sometimes, but I shoot OK with it. Missed a 25 by one bird last time. The shell holders in the stock are great for holding alabi shells.

Hi Everyone; thanks very much for the input & suggestions. My brother has found a Remington 1100 for under $500 and is picking it up in the next few days.
thanks flexible
