I am thinking about getting a Taurus Traker 627. I like the porting, the extra round, and the small size of the frame, but the grip is just a bit too short to make it comfortable. It feels like my pinky finger is just hanging on by a thread, and that bothers me for some reason. This is with their "Ribber" grips.

I have looked on their web page and seen that they offer the standard rubber grips for the Tracker, but searching old posts on here, it sounds like that grip is actually a bit smaller than the ribber grips which is no good for me.

What I would really like is something like a Hogue combat grip. Nice, soft, and big enough that my pinky has a firm resting place. Looking around though, it seems no one makes grips for the Taurus Tracker compact frames.

So, does anyone know of someone who makes some nice large grips for the 627?

I called Taurus today and asked them about grips. They told me that the raging bull grips would not work on the tracker series, and that the ribber grips are the largest they make for that gun. I asked if they knew of any after mark grips and they gave me the names of Uncle Mikes and Hogue, and said that maybe they have something. They were very nice, and told me what I needed to know.

I checked Uncle Mikes web page and they did not have anything for the Taurus 627, but they did have other models listed.

Same with Hogue's web site. I sent off an email to Hogue asking if they had something that was not listed on their page. I will let you know if anything turns up.

Hogue wrote back and here is what they said

MrTuffPaws, we are working on a rubber grip for that model (Taurus Tracker 627) as we speak. This is just a guess but I would have to say that late February March for completion.
Thanks for Your Interest in Hogue Products

Thanks for the info. Houge grips always seem to fit me well. I have their MonoGrip on my Taurus 669 and my new S&W 646 came with the "Bantum" grips which work well but feel a little funny too me on the top left. There just doesn't seem to be a good place to stick my right thumb on there. Whatever they come up with I hope it works out for you.

You could also check with Ajax Grips. They carry grips that fit just about anything and might have a pattern already.

Look at Nill Grips. They have wood replacement grips available for Taurus tracker revolvers... at least that is what their website says.

Wow, I checked out the nill grips site. Nice looking grips at 1/3 the cost of the gun, but really really nice looking.
