The hammer forged stainless steel Model 627 7-shot in .357 Magnum will be appearing in backpacks and fishermen's tackle boxes, especially when there are bears and other predators around. The Taurus Tracker has established a standard for pack guns for hunters and hikers. Finished in Stainless Steel, the Tracker carries the Taurus Security System and the exclusive Ribber Grip.

Buying a revolver covers a broad range of bases so maybe you should tell us your intended purposes for the revolver.

Shooting at the range

I just like it as a hobby. I like going to the range and enjoying the day plucking some rounds.

Smith 686+ or a GP100 (if you can part with the 7th shot) would be guaranteed good buys.

I have personal bias, but the poll in my sig line will give you 200+ other peoples' opinions on Taurus.

Yeah, heads up on Taurus - you are likely to get a good one, but maybe not - they are just not quite as dependable a company as S&W or Ruger.

For a first revolver, I would get a Ruger GP100. Not expensive, and will outlive your grandkids.
