Does anyone know if these will fit the new style sp101 9mm or of any other after markets that do? https://tkcustom.com/products/moonclips/ruger-sp-101x5-9mm-032-ss
I have been carrying mine for around a year now with 2 loaded ruger moon clips in one of my shirt pockets. I expected them to get bent and unusable as every where I read said that is what moon clips do but so far no issues. Occasionally a bullet will fall off the moon clip because my carry rounds fit the ruger moon clips very loosely (federal 147 hst), my practice fmjs fit a good bit tighter. Anyways looking for a moon clip that will hold bullets tighter.

Those should work. If in doubt send TK Custom an email and ask, their customer service is pretty good.

I would also suggest getting a pocket protector for carrying your moonclips. It will ensure that rounds do not get knocked off and will also help protect the moonclips from getting bent as easy.

Del Fatti (http://www.delfatti.com/PMC-PO Page.html) and TK Custom sell them but I believe TK Custom is simply reselling the Del Fatti.

That is a nice looking carrier. 20210331_223620.jpg That is how I currently carry my spare 2, does take up a good bit less space like that in my already crowded shirt pockets. Still no issues with function after a pretty rough life in my shirt pocket on my chicken farm. I might send tk an email, do you know if their moon clips have to have a tool to load?

Probably not but that can vary depending on what brass you are using. Worst case you can use plier to load them if you are careful. There is also a variety of moonclip tools out their too from cheap to expensive.

DBEAM, Is it certain there is a difference in 9mm moon clips for new style SP101s? My SP101 is of '90s manufacture. And FWIW, I've used the same Ranch Products moon clips for years for both my SP101 9mm and S&W 940. They are approx. .035"-.036" thick, and definitely hold any of the varied types of brass cased ammunition I've used quite securely....

9mm moons are a mixed bag, as is 9mm ammunition. There are some that are virtually impossible to seat without a tool (Dillon markets one) or you can make one. In any case, use a tool to remove them, lest you bend the moon.
Those of us spoiled on 2-for-a-buck gunshow .45 moons experienced sticker shock getting Smith or Chiappa clips.

I got a 9mm SP-101 a few yesrs ago and had trouble finding moon clips foelr it. Ruger was out of stock, I kind of remember TK Custom did not catalog them, and the ones I found did not work.

I did get some moon clips from Ruger last year.

I’ve had good luck with TK. Custom moon clips for several other cartridges so I’ll give the SP-101 clips a try.

I use BMT Equipped moon clip tools for all my moon clip revolvers. They are a bit pricey for some folks but they are great to use.

I got some inexpensive "Moon Clip Depot" clips from Amazon for my 9mm SP101.

They work well and I don't need to use a tool at all (unlike my 45acp moonclips).

Tallball. Those look a lot like the factory ruger moon clips, do they seem any tighter then the factory to you.
Rock185 I'm pretty sure the old sp101s use different size clips from what I've seen in product descriptions.
Cfullgraf are you planning on getting tkcustom ones soon? You don't use hst 9mm by chance do you?
I'm looking for a more secure grip for a faster reload but am beginning to think the play in rugers may be what keeps them from bending.

This is the first confirmation that old production Runger 9mm SP-101's use different moon clips than the new ones. The ones I bought that do not work are said to fit both S&W and SP-101. They do not work in my recent production SP-101.

I do not really need them instantly but I'll try to get around to placing an order in the next few days when I'm sitting at the computer for while.

I've only loaded hand loaded FMJ in my SP-101. I remember that different head stamped cases may not fit the moon clips. I think I remember it is mostly non-domestic cases but I have slept since then.

You may have to select your ammunition choice with that criteria in mind.[/QUOTE]

Revolver Supply now says that the old 9mm SP-101 uses .035" thick moon clips and the new 9mm SP-101 uses .020" thick moon clips. Note, when I order the Revolver Supply moon clips several years ago, they did not make that distinction, but at the time, the new SP-101 had just been introduced.

So, I'm not going to test the TK Custom moon clips.

Since I order a bunch of moon clips from Ruger not too long ago, I've decided I do not need any more moon clips at this time.

Another note, I have moon clip revolvers in 45 ACP, 10mm and 38 Special and TK Custom moon clips work great in those revolvers.
