Guys,

My step-dad has a 1968 model 70 with a Canjar trigger. He wants to reinstall the original trigger and purchase a new Model 70 in .243 onto which he wants to install this old Canjar trigger. Is this possible? I don't know if I am getting enough information to you, but I can always call him and ask for more if you guys need it....

Suggest getting serial number and caliber of 1968 M70 and model of Canjar trigger. Then contact both Winchester and Canjar to see if the trigger will fit new Win M70 rifles. Don't know if rifle caliber will have an impact or not. Good luck.

Good shooting and be safe.

Model 70 triggers are very good and very easy to adjust. I'd leave the Canjar on the older Winchester, and tweak the new Winchester's trigger. If he decides he wants to put the Canjar on the new rifle, try it -- if it fits, fine, if not -- well, he'll need to buy a new trigger.

Couldn't find Canjar triggers in my Brownell's cat.; however, other manufacturers list the same trigger for all Mod 70s. I'd bet the old Canjar will fit the new 70. Like Vern says, it's pretty simple to try the Canjar in the new Win. and see if it fits. Jewell makes a fine trigger for the Mod 70. Timney makes a modestly-priced trigger or the Mod 70, also.

I'd go along with what Vern says. I have only one of Matt's triggers and that's on a 722 in 300 Savage that took tons of chucks back in the seventies. I just can't see breaking up a good combination when there's lots of other options today. Does anyone know if he's still in business in Denver? Essex

As a matter of fact, my step dad asked that same question to me, so I looked, and sure enough the M. H. Canjar company is still in business. I actually called them o see if the number still worked, and it did.
