Aguila mini shells...inconsistent, or just bad luck?

I bought a couple boxes of the 12 gauge mini shell buckshot. It's a mix of #4 and #1 buck. But anyways, they are extremely fun to shoot out of my coach gun but I've noticed they are somewhat inconsistent.

After shooting a box full, I noticed that most go off with a loud BANG (as expected), but I had a few that were more like a much weaker "poof" with noticeably less recoil. One shell was so bad that it actually didnt even make the gun move when I fired it (no recoil whatsoever)...the shot probably barely made it out of the barrel.

Needless to say I'm kinda peeved because these shells aren't exactly cheap ($15 for box of 20). Has anyone else had issues with the mini shells like this?? Or did i maybe just get a bad batch?? I really want to like these shells.

Aguila ammo can be hit or miss in my experience. It is a Mexican ammunition company and most of the ammo I have used from them has been of the .22 cal variety. The one thing that did catch my attention: Makes the barrel real dirty, real fast.

I have heard that they don't cycle reliably in pump shotguns. I have a couple boxes from when they first came out, but have never fired a single round. I'm just not into shooting shotguns for fun.

I too have noticed how dirty these shells are. And smelly too. I have used many boxes of their supermax and interceptor 22lr in the past and never had any complaints. Wondering if i just got a bad batch of these or something.

I shot a box of that buck recently without problems. I would try and call or email Aguila. They need to know about this.

Everyone knows when you are shooting Aquila at an indoor range.

Like just about everyone else here my only experience has been with their .22 ammo, and it has been fairly reliable and pretty smelly.

They can flip around in a pump shotgun, if you don't cycle them carefully. I load 2 1/4" shells, which are a little longer, and cycle better. Still load 1 oz. of 00 Buck. Nice part is you can get an extra round in the mag, instead of 2 3/4" shells. 6+1 without the plug.
