I did a rather in-depth testing of this ammunition. It's the first video of a two part testing. The second part will be testing it with a few different suppressors. Had some interesting results in this video.

Nice video! I've discovered the same thing you did, that the SSS is firearm dependant. Some guns like it and some don't and there's no way to tell unless you shoot it.

I tried them for coon hunting, They shot really well out of my H&R 649 revolver. The only problem was, the damage they did to the coon was so extensive that the pelt was no good after two shots. Granted, a well placed shot wouldn't have been so bad but in the dark and shooting at glowing eyes with a revolver, it took two to bring it down out of the tree.

I haven't used them since, but I never tried them out of a rifle. I couldn't get past the pelt damage factor, and their not that quiet even though they are subsonic.

I'm interested in this round as well for a future build that will be suppressed. I've played with a few of them but wanted to use the "correct" barrel for them (1:9 twist). I'll check out the video later (the computer I'm on is a dinosaur and won't run video) but just curious what you were shooting with and what your twist rate was.

BTW my recent testing for penetration showed another Aguila round at the top of the heap. The Interceptor out performed every other 22LR round from hypervelocity 30 grains to the 60 grain SSS. I was shooting at 55 gallon steel drums. Regular and high velocity rounds would typically go in to the first drum (one layer of metal) and dent the other side. Some of the hypervelocity rounds and the SSS would come out the other side of the drum, but not consistently enough to be predictable, say 3-4 out of 10. But the Interceptors would go thru the first barrel, in to the second and dent the fourth layer of metal EVERY TIME. All tests were at 25 yards.

I'll be interested in seeing your results. So far the most effective hunting round I've found in 22LR is the Stinger SEGMENTED hollow point, but the SSS could be made quiet, so that certainly deserves some testing.

try out the cci "quiet" 22lr 40gr. rn. exits barrel at 710fps. won't work semi auto action--but it is quiet. i used it in a suppressed contender--click-whack.

rifle was sighted in at 25yds with cci standards (suppressed). with "quiets" is shot 1 inch low. bought round for pests in the yard (rabbits/squirrels).
