I saw this rifle at the local dealer and it was one of the weirdest things I ever saw- it looked like a Enfield No.5 Jungle Carbine but it was chambered in 7.62x39mm ( it looks even weirder- or should I say, cooler, loaded with the 10- rd. AK mag ). Did some research on it and it turns out to be a copy of the No.5. Went back and bought it. I was worried about feeding problems, but mine worked flawlessly when I fired 60 rounds down on the range. Sure am glad I decided to buy it.
I saw some threads on the A2s bigger 7.62x 51mm cousin, the B series. Just wondered if anyone else has experience with this hefty ( 11 lb. ) carbine.
 
It shot high and to the left until I adjusted the front post but the 100 yard range was closed, so I settled on the 50. Even an ameteur like me could get a three inch group in the black at that range, so it wasn't a good test.
I will take a picture of the little beast and post it later tonight. And remember to take the camera to the range next time! :eek:
 
Congrats on your AIA M10 carbine.
It's a great bolt-action carbine that uses AK magazines.
They pop up on the acution sites for around $500-800.


FYI.
The AIA Enfield rifles/carbines in .308Winchester and 7.62x39mm are banned from importation into the USA by the US State department, due to parts of the firearms being made in a small arms trade sanctioned country (Viet Nam).

Several thousand AIA M10 carbines in 7.62x39mm were imported into the USA prior to being banned.

The AIA Enfields are made from the ground up and are not rebuilds from old Enfield recievers/parts.
 
I've had one of these for several months. It is one of the coolest guns I have ever owned. With junk Russian ammo and my 3X9 Leupold, it will shoot 1-1/2" 100 yard groups. I haven't tried it with good hand loads yet. It will be my primary hunting rifle for this fall.

Was yours new or used? It should have come with 2 ten round mags, a heavy canvas case, a front sight tool and a factory scope base.
 
Interestingly customs are not allowing the mags into Australia because they will fit 'Restricted Weapons' like the AK/SKK (7.62x39) & M14/M1A1(7.62x51)
This is causing real headaches for potential Aussie buyers and supply of new rifles ceased long ago
 
before the importation ban we actually had a group buy sign up (for the 7.62x51mm version) on this forum...the timing just didn't work out
 
If you don't mind my asking, how much was it? I'm just curious how much they're going for.

I've been intrigued by the M10 ever since I saw one in a magazine. I'm looking forward to their next importations.
 
That's true, I understand that production has pretty much ceased here because the magazines can no longer be sourced.
I just bought a "like new" used M10 A2 for AU$995 (in 7.62x39) and I happened to stumble across a couple of spare mags from another seller.

I posted this in the wanted/ for sale section too, but I am looking for a scope mount for the AIA M10-A2 7.62x39. I got one used 3 months ago for 700 bucks used at Gander Mtn. It's in great shape, but I really want to mount a scope on it. If any one has one or has any leads on where I can get one, I would really appreciate it. Name your price, I want it.

I have a gun smith here that will mount a No4mk1 scope rail on it, but he has to mill the rail and drill into the side of the gun. I really don't want to do that to such a rare gun. any help would be a huge help.

Standard ribbed AK mags will fit. I got a couple of 5 rounders that work very well. The finish does not match but oh well.
