Hi, I'm new here. I posted this question on a couple of old threads about the Australian International Arms M10-A2, but I was informed by Member Andrew Wyatt, that this was not the way things are done around here; "the proper way to ask for information is not to dig up old threads, but to start your own thread."

So I'll start one here. I hope this is the right place for this type of thing, so I may also try the for sale and wanted category.

I am trying to track down a scope mount for the M10-A2 in 7.62x39 that I purchased a few months ago. I have been hitting 1" groups ay 75 yards through iron sights with Bulgarian surplus ammo from the 70's and 80's, and I feel this rifle has much more potential to reach out with some glass on top. I have exhausted every option I can think of:

1) Marstar in Canada -they don't receive scope mounts by them selves, only packaged with new rifles.

2)AIA - will not return emails, and I even tried an international phone call, but there was no answer, and they did not return the message.

3)Gander Mountain - the original retailer for the AIA imports, and where I purchased mine used. I asked them if they had missed the part when it was sent to my local store, and if the originating store could contact the seller on my behalf to see if they still had the mount, but they did not have a contact number.

My only options from here are to:

1) Scour the internet for someone who is willing to part with one, as I am doing here.
2) Have a machine shop fabricate one for me, but I think this would be $$$
3) Have a gun smith modify the mount for a No1Mk4 Enfield and drill in the side of the rear bridge.

Please help me.

FWIW, Andrew is correct.

While we've got a lot of old threads on many topics, it's usually a better idea to start a new thread rather than to resurrect an old one, especially if the topic you want to discuss is something that's not specifically part of the older discussion.

well I posted here to be sure. I hope this is the right place. I have contacted two AIA dealers in AUS. They say that the mounts on their own are hard to come by there as well. It seems that every gun comes with one, so they are not sold separately. The guy whol sold his rifle back to Gander did not include the rail. It would be useless on its own because it is a custom fit. what a waste :( IDK what to do...

Sorry to hear about your plight, but it looks like you will have to have one custom made. :(

On another note...
If you don't want the AIA M10-A2 anymore, I may be interested depending on the price (PM me if you want to get rid of it).

I paid 700 otd for it and it is worth every penny. Parkerized finish, chrome barrel, Teak wood stock (the wood is imported from Vietnam, and that is why the ATF has banned them here) If you have the chance to pick one up, I would highly recommend it. I am an amateur when it comes to rifle shooting, and I am hitting sub 1" groups at 75 yards now with iron sights. I'm currently feeding it bulgarian surplus from the 70s-80s. It's really good stuff.

Every time I start a new thread somebody tells me to look at old ones so seems like there is a double standard. ANYWAY.. I had a lee enfield rifle which is what your AIA rifle is and it had an old Weaver scope mount that was awesome. However it did require tapping and drilling the receiver. I have only seen one for sale so they are getting hard to come by now. Short of that there are a couple new makers of scope mounts that require you to remove the rear sight assembly. I would google enfield scope mount or SMLE scope mount. That 7.62 would be sweet out to 200 yards or so.

Well the AIA is already drilled and tapped and has plug screws in it, ready to go. Because of the rarity of these things in the US, I really don't want to put more holes in it. I'd rather drop a couple hundred on having one fabricated than the $75 I was quoted to drill the receiver and to mill the rail to fit.

That looks like it could work well! If there is enough metal there to hack off to get the elevation right, then it would work very will. the see through design might even still be usable. Countersink and add some 3mm screws and we're in business. Thanks Wyatt!

Had same issue.....

I had the same issue with a rifle purchased from Gander. It was brand new and unfired, but someone had scarfed everything but the rifle and magazine. Gander MTN insisted it was used, but that was not true.I got reply emails from Austrailia and Canada, but never got any info on specs or possible mounts that might work.
Went to Cabelas with measurements, spent an hour looking through all they had and bought 2 separate mounts. Had to cut 1 off and grind it down some. Then went to Home Depot and found mounting screws. I did have to remove rear sight assembly.
Finally got it assembled and a scope mounted. It has been a great gun for training my 15 year old with. With 154gr SP, probably would be a decent deer, coyote or pig gun. I could send pics of my set up if you wish.

PM sent! Thanks DRF. I can't wait to take a pig with this gun. I do believe that with the right ammo, this would make an excellent deer gun, as much, if not more capable than a 30-30.

I am in the middle of modifying 2 piece weaver mounts to fit. Now I need a good scope to pair up with this carbine. maybe a 1-5x
