I am looking to buy an Aimpoint red dot for my M4 and I've noticed they come with a choice of two dot sizes, 2 MOA and 4 MOA. Which do you all think would be better for all round use? Target, plinking, home defense and possible SHTF scenario.

For any kind of target work or long range shooting, a 2 dot will be more accurate. I have a Burris 2 dot on a .22 pistol and I like it a lot better than a 3 dot for bullseye and plate shooting. 4 dots are more practical for short range scenarios, especially under 50 yards IMO. You really don't lose anything with a 2 dot as long as the dot has enough brightness, and you get double the accuracy potential and less chance of obscuring small/moving, targets/bullseyes. ;)

2MOA.

You can do distance precision work easier with the smaller dot, and if you're worried about seeing the small dot up close and fast, you can always turn up the brightness. Not a perfect solution, but nothing is when you're trying to make one thing do it all.

Either will work, but I went with a 2.

Ditto - always get the smaller dot.

I love the center dot on the Eotech - 1 MOA. Makes it easier to use at long ranges :)
