So I just got my first "black rifle" a colt LE6920. and while I like the iron sights I would like to get an optic for it.

My birthday is coming up in about a month, and I was thinking of getting an Aimpoint PRO, (well it would be from my wife, but i'm sure you know how it is)

I was wondering if anyone had any input or experience with the PRO? I've done some googling and can't really find anything wrong with it, but I'd like some first hand info from anyone here who owns one, or has used one.

Have you shot using a tube style red dot? The reason i ask is, i get tunnel vision when i shoot thru tube style red dots. So, i got an Eotech for my last one. Nothing against aimpoint. The battery life is great.

You might want to try shooting a friends AR with a tube style and see how you like it.

Just food for thought.

The Pro is in my opinion the best value that is out there today in a red dot type optic. It comes with the qrp mount and a 3 year battery life (continuous run time). Feel confident in your purchase.

I agree with trying the Aimpoint and Eotech. I did and picked the aimpoint. The eotech is too busy for me. The pro is a solid reddot well worth the money. I have no regrets

The Aimpoint PRO is definitely worth the money in my book. This is my first higher end optic and I can't wait to test it out.

-The mount locks on easily and solid.

-The knurled fastener makes it quick to tighten down along with the self torquing nut.

-It can co-witness with my AR and with my AR with HK diopter sights by removing the spacer on the mount.

-You can mount it to anything with a rail and leave it on for 3 years without changing the battery.

-I'm pretty sure these are NVG capable as the first 2 or 3 brightness settings aren't visible at all but, I can't say I know for sure. Someone on here probably knows.

I hope that others can chime in with their range experiences.

Should be a great present!

When I shoot with any of the Aimpoints (Micro, M3, or M4) I don't see the tube, I see the target and a dot.

I know other people's brains work differently, but I don't get the 'tube optics restrict my vision' thing.

Neither do I.

The Aimpoint PRO is one of the best red dots on the market today. I have been extremely pleased with mine.

I also run one on my AR and put it through a two carbine courses without incident and other shooting activities. I will keep it long term and consider it good for the money. The stock mount serves my purposes fine. Great for all light conditions. No regrets.

While you're shopping around, search around for a seller called SmartGunner. I think I'm remembering right. Back when I used Aimpoints, I was buying them from him because his prices were really good at the time. I've bought an M2, a couple of M3s and an M4 from him and never had a problem.

The PRO is a great optic; it'll serve you well. I don't have anything but good things to say about it....

I agree. I have a T1 on my go to AR. However, for the money the pro is hard to beat and it is a very good.

Just put one on my 6920 and I really like it. Got it zeroed and it is real good piece.

One word of caution. The PRO uses a 2 moa dot instead of the 4 moa dot. When I first bought mine it wasnt a problem. But this week at work I was on a perimeter for a gunman on the loose and i noticed that in bright sunlight I, and a friend of mine, had a very hard time picking up the dot. Im probably going to switch mine out for a 4 moa model in the near future.

C-grunt: Did turning up the brightness to get the dot to bloom not help? Just curious.

Good optic, good battery life, and its tough. Unless you're treating your rifle and everything on it like you dont own it, it'll last and last and last. Its basically a CompM3 with 3 year versus 5 year battery life.

As for EOTech vs Aimpoint thats a debate as old as 9 vs 45, AK vs AR, Ford Vs Chevy, and so on.

This is a perfect example of all sights not being compatible with everyone. I know a couple of people that have trouble seeing red and have lots of trouble seeing the smaller sized dot. Personally, I don't have trouble seeing the 2 MOA dot, but it looks kind of like a comet to me. That's why I don't use Aimpoints any longer. I use ACOGs now.

I much prefer the 2 MOA on all AR carbines and even in Az. sun can see it. The 2MOA dot enable a 200 yard head shot if one had to.

I like the bigger dot. I am 99% more likely to need a fast shot up close than a 200 yard head shot. A 200 yard head shot is not what my AR is for.

The Aimpoint Pro is a very fine Red Dot Sight and you will not go wrong with it. Tube style red dots are fine. I have several and love shooting with them. Here is an Aimpoint CompC3 (quite similar to the PRO) mounted on my Mini 14:

Aimpoint pro

I have been debating on the Aimpoint pro or the Eotech 512. While the sight acquisition on the Eotech is a bit quicker, I find the aimpoint ruggedness and battery life a better selling point.

Traded my PRO for a M2 this week. Much easier for me to pick up in the daylight. Gonna sight it in tomorrow before work this weekend.

Mine sits atop my AR and works great. I purchased it after semi-extensive internet trolling and video reviews and comparing a few red dot type sights on manufacturer websites. The price is fantastic and I like a red dot to be uncluttered. The 2 MOA dot works for any application I might have for it.

Nope. I had it turned all the way up. If I was looking into a darker area than I could see the dot well. But the dot would almost disappear when looking at brighter objects. The 4 MOA dot isnt giving me these problems and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be taking 200 yard head shots with my patrol rifle.
