Air marshals to patrol land, sea transport

Why aren't some of you over in the General Discussion helping me with the " Anyone catch the Today show bit about the Air Marshall shooting?" thread.

In essence, I was told that questioning the governments actions on the issue of shooting the man boarding the flight was wrong. Not that they were right, but that QUESTIONING their actions was wrong.

I can see the New America and I aren't going to get along.

I don't have a TV, can't discuss stuff people see on their TV.

This stuff goes in cycles ... I see this latest initiative not so much as a further threat to our civil rights, but rather, just another example of a government agency working hard to justify its existence, extend its sphere of influence and continue generating p.r. in order to keep its funding coming in ... Those who claim ownership of all the other modes of transport in this country will try to keep DHS and the FAMS out of their areas as much as possible -- the airlines, and the air travel industry, was one thing -- air travel was already under heavy federal regulation --, but really, what can the FAMS do with, for example, Greyhound, AMTRAK, the ferries? See my prior post about the WA state ferry system -- it's already declined the "help" from the air marshals ...

Anyway, as will always happen in the evolutionary saga of every government, a new administration, a new Congress, new bean-counters and trendy new management philosophies will evolve over the next few years, and all these agencies will get sliced, diced, overhauled, re-created, re-molded, re-invented ...

Old Dog, where did you see that the WA State Ferries have declined? I would like to read whatever you read.

Until one day they have to justify their existence by placing a camera in every home to watch people, right? It would be the ultimate security. You could catch criminals before they even left their houses.

on KOMO-4 now, they're saying that an agreement might be negotiated.

Big Daddy G stepped in and told them to take the agents...or funding goes bye-bye. Whatcha wanna bet?
That's how they are going to end up everywhere. Next step....ATF officers checking guns at every gunshow. Just remember you heard it here first.

Thanks, Old Dog. The WA State Ferry website seem to go out of its way to make it perfectly clear that, pursuant to state law, CPL holders can carry onboard. I would hate to see anything happen to change that.

Why is anyone surprised that TSA is doing this? I knew this was coming from the moment it was named.

Think about it. There was a reason it wasn't named "Airport Security Agency." That reason wasn't shared with us sheep, of course....

Dude you're just a crazy tin-foil conspiracy theorist. So you got lucky, and the gov't really is trying to take over. You're still crazy, everyone else is sane, you just happened to get lucky on one guess.

God why don't anyone else care about this? No-one cares, it's insane, they just don't care. How can they not care?

Because they're all watching reality-TV and celebrity scandals.

The scariest part is that while you CAN legally CCW on a public bus if you have a license for your state, the possiblity just went up a whole lot that if someone catches a glimpse of your safely holstered weapon's edge or something in your belt when moving around, YOU could be labeled a TERRORIST...and shot by one of these TSA people.

Yep, been getting worse all along.

Noticed Retired Chicago LEO are not going to be allowed to carry - some of these LEO may have "upset" a few folks in ther careers...
Sometimes "General Principal" - simple fact a person was LEO "upsets" folks.

1) We have to continue to be ever vigilant and be Proactive with our Freedoms - Complacency is not an option. Fight to Protect our Freedoms with Pen,Paper, Phone, Email, Voting...

2) Software not Hardware as we always say.

3) Civil Disobedience.

TPTB "say" one is not to CCW in Hospitals here. One cannot CCW in Voting areas. One Cannot CCW in any level of "Gov't" bldg. We cannot in Schools...

Didn't say I / we could not be armed with our minds, carry a Cane, ceramic coffee mug ...riding that Hosptial Shuttle to and fro to visit someone, Vote, Attend Gubmint meetings...attend classes...

There are times you have to use a conveyance - arm mind, body and soul.

When a alternative is available - do so. Besides, recall better to have your own means of transportation - and not be dependent on someone else.

Be it a teenage daughter driving herself to the Library , or Elderly folks going out to eat.

Teenage daughter is not "dependent" on others - she can leave , come straight home, or meet parents as prearranged to go out to eat -not as vulnerable as prey. Who knows when or where the others with keys to vehicles may choose to leave , any trouble more than one teen can dream up.

The Elderly can choose the same.

Think outside the box - lest one finds themselves in the box.
