I bought my first "fire" rifle, Ruger 10 22. I have a decent air rifle scope (BSA, 2-7x32mm) and wonder if I can use it on Ruger, at least before I buy a quality scope for the rifle. I know a real rifle scope can't be used on an air rifle. Also, if someone recommends me quality rimfire scopes, I appreciate your input. Thanks in advance.

you should have no problem with the scope on the 10/22

as for recommendation of a scope...

do you have a budget?

what are you planning on using it for(target, hunting, plinking, ect)?

anything special you want in the scope?

Using a quality air rifle scope is more than just OK on a .22lr...there are some that will say it is over-kill in scope quality. If you like the BSA scope, I'd just leave it on the 10/22...depending on how the parallax is adjusted

The internals of air rifle scopes are built to take much more punishment than a typical .22lr scope...as it withstands twice the recoil for each shot and from two different directions. The reason a "real" rifle scope (read cheap) shouldn't be mounted on an air rifle is because the recoil of the air rifle would beat it to death

appreciate much input. I'll use my BSA on the Ruger for a while. I'll move on to a center fire rifle soon, so, I was thinking to buy a quality scope like a Leupold might as well. I got 2 boxes of ammo (1100 rounds for just $40!) for the coming weekend and am ready to rock. Another newbie question. I read somewhere that the rimfire gun doesn't take dry fire at all. Is it okay to dry fire once at the end of the day or before storing the gun? or, should I always use a snap can or spent brass? again appreciate your input.
