So........I mosey on down to the International Airport (some flights out of Mexico are actually legal and allowed to land here) to meet my Pastor, who is returning from Europe. Just behind my right hip is a Para Ord C7.45 in a tuckable IWB holster. Comforting.

I drive up to the airport wondering what changes, if any, may be in store and I worry that I may have to run back to my truck to dump my gun if the rules have changed. I keep a sharp lookout but don't see any signs. One thing is obvious, barricades and warning signs all along the roadway at the doors to the terminal.

I park and walk toward the doors and notice a prominent sign beside the entrance. Coming closer, I can see large contrasting letters and it's obvious that the sign is bilingual, though I'm not certain why. Not many around here read English. Anyway, I draw close and concentrate on the sign. Better safe than arrested. The sign says "unoccupied vehicles will be immediately towed away". Nothing about firearms.

I enter the Terminal and stomp around, looking for other folks whom I know willl be there. My Dan Post boots clunking on the tiled floor. The local PD is there in force and Border Patrol too. We're all armed.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get into the secure area with a weapon. As a matter of fact, they weren't letting anyone but passengers into the secure area so that's no loss.

I can see security changes and the airport Security Boss has been on the radio crowing about all the changes but one thing remains the same.

You can still legally pack a concealed pistol in the airport.

Don't mess with Texas!

Yep, you can still carry as long as you don't try to go into the secured area.

This amuses me... The new rules state no one is allowed to park or stand at the curb while waiting for passengers to exit the building. Presumably, this is to discourage the use of car bombs.

Yet, anyone can drive along the road out front without contest.

Doesn't make sense to me.
