AK-47 Optics

I'm am thinking about adding some sort of optical system to my AK-47, not neccessarly a scope, maybe just a red dot scope.... Is it really a big problem to use the dust cover rails which are so easy to find? Or do I need to get the left side scope rails?

Top cover scope mounts are a joke... Get a side rail and a Kobra red dot sight ($130ish). You want the -03M model that takes AA batteries and has the strengthened mount. You can get other Kobra models from elsewhere, but this is the best.

Agreed. If you get a top cover mount, you'll regret it and replace it eventually. Get a rail mount and you'll be happy and keep it forever.

Got my PSO-1 "v" from Tantal, too. A good value, and a feature-rich scope.
