I have an AK-47 underfolder and would like to put a front grip on it. I didn't see another thread posted anywhere so I started this one.

Yep -- get a railed hand guard, then put a forward vertical grip on it. You may want to read up on the pluses and minuses of that before doing it -- with AKs you're limited on placement since too far rear with screw up your mag changes.

If you're talking about the wooden handguards with the forward hand grip seen on some Cold War era AKMs, I don't think anyone is making them but you might be able to find someone who produces new ones. I don't think I've ever seen actual East Bloc ones for sale.

front grip

on my ak i just purchased a little short rail that had 2 screw holes in it, took off the forearm and attached the rail, think i countersunk the screws on the inside of the forearm, been awhile since i did it.then i got a vert grip that just clamps on the rail by tightening a knob on the bottom of it. works great

Imma goin to a gun show this weekend. Maybe ill find a rail without having to order anything. I'll be looking for a mag release extender as well... whatever I end up doing, I'll pic-n-post when I'm finished.

You could also look for a Romanian lower handguard. You want the version that slopes backward toward the magazine.

I'm probably going to leave it be. I was playing with one st the gun show I attended and wasn't sure. If I make a move ill post a pic or something.

I don't think anyone is making them and if they were ever imported I don't see them around.

You could try emailing Tantal at Avtomats in Action and seeing if he has any sources for them. Or maybe contact Ironwood Designs and see if they can do a custom build for you.

They sell for ridiculous amounts because no one makes them anymore.

The Romanians only made them for 1-2 years, because they switched from an underfolding stock to a sidefolding stock. So they are very rare.

Oh wow they are called MD63 thanks for lettin me know "zoom6zoom" and everyone else i appreciate the help if anyone by any chance comes across one for sell online please let me know :) Thnx

"HorseSoldier" never had heard of Ironwood Designs looks like a good company just emailed them hopefully they will be able to help me out if they can custom build me one at a fair price maybe ill order more than one and put some up for sell since there a bit scarce to find ;)

Well, I almost set my handguard on fire this past Saturday..... Evidently if you put 90 rounds through an AK as fast as you can it'll do that..... This is motivation to change my handguard even more so now. I'm probably not going to worry with a front pistol grip. I found a handguard specifically for underfolders made by Krebbs customs for $280...... It was neat to look at..... I'm wondering if a polymer handguard would hold up to the heat. I'm considering wrapping the inside of the handguard with header wrap. All in all it was fun.
