Has anyone shot an ak-74? Im becoming to wonder what the accuracy is like on one of thoes things. Ive shot my friends AK-47 and the rainbow tragectory of the 7.62 doesnt cut it for me. What MOA can i expect?

If you are talking about the 5.45X39 round, it is very accurate, at least it was in my Ronaian. :)

It is a very zippy little carbine, but I sold our for a 7.62X51...the power to erach out and touch someone!

i have norinco ak-74
and grouped 2 inches at 150yds last time out with wolf ammo
i also have a simmons 3-10 scope on it with a b-square mount

i can hit a golf ball at a 100yds with it

I have a Romanian CUR II Mil-spec with a PSO 4 x 16 scope on it chambered in 5.45 that has been shooting 2- 3 inch groups.

I've only been shotting it these last few weeks since my health has gotten better so it is only going to bet better accuracy wise - I would recommend you run to your local store and buy a 74 chambered in 5.45. Run, don't walk.

The 5.45 is some wicked. Quick second shot, aimed or double tap. Shoots flat enough to hit more reliably at unknown and miss-guessed ranges. Old style tapered case for better extraction from hot/dirty/rusty chambers. I'm in love (but I stay true to my SAR 1).

Yea. It's slightly more accurate than the 7.62x39, but I don't care for the caliber. MOA depends entirely on what kind of rifle you buy.

As for accuracy with an AK47, with a Sako AK varient, I can fire on full auto and hit a coffee can at 50m 30 out of 30. Good enough for me.

I have one and a 5.45 Krink too. I can hit a 20 lb. propane tank at 200 yards 7 out of 10 times.

Are you saying that you can fire 30 rounds full auto and hit a coffee can with all 30 rounds at 50m?

That I would have to see.

To all you AK-74 enthusiasts, what would be a good buy for an AK-74. Im not looking to spend much more that $400.

Is this enough for a decent one. I dont need it to be new and pretty either. If someone can point me in the direction of one, i'd be much appreciated. :D

Yep. Not much left of the can afterwards.

I cheated, tho. I used the best quality AK47 varient in the world (Sako Rt-95, or Model 95 depending on which Finn you ask), and I used bursts firing on full auto. If I just dumped the mag, I doubt I could do so at 50m. 25m, maybe. As my drill instructor said, "If yer not cheating, yer not trying hard enough."

Edit : Also, it was the full sized coffee can, not a tiny dinky one the size of a soda can. I doubt you could find one of those tiny cans on any self-respecting post anyways.

Century Arms SAR-1 would do the trick.

Akron Armory has some bulgy 74 kits left for $200 shipped. Add a $60 receiver, $50 in US parts, and go to town.
