AK or Sks scope mount on a Mosin nagant

Hi, everyone i just bought a MN 91/30, and I figured that i would sporter it.
Not liking the ATI mount and not wanting a scout mount.
I'm thinking of using an AK style side rail or the leapers MNT-641 mount.
Has anyone else tried this? Any help is appreciated.

DONT EDIT THE STOCK. other than to add the mount. is there a particular type of scope you are looking for? you can put the mosin sniper scope on but you need a mosin mount. if you want a posp scope (dragunov) you need an ak mount or a svd mount. attaching the mount will require a drill press and dremil (about $120 worth of equipment) the original mosin pu scope will cost about $300 along with a $50-$100 bent bolt. i would suggest doing this http://www.kalinkaoptics.com/Manuals/MosinMauserSKSSniperMounting.pdf
tat way you dont need a bent bolt handle and you can use any 1" scope including the PU if you decide to invest in that. and btw, dont say sporter, that is a fudd word.

Don't know what the aversion to the ATI mount is for you. I can tell you it works fine on my 91/30.

One minor addition, if you look closely at the bottom picture, tracing back just above the sidewall behind the breech and in front of the rear ring. You see the silver metal of the bolt and a grey speck that joins the base of the ATI mount to the sidewall.

This is several wraps of light nylon string that was moistened, and then a drop of super glue applied. It formed into a hard post that keeps the ATI mount from producing that aggrivating "Twang" when fired.

After corking and barrel cleaning my 91/30 is sub moa even in my wobble +64 year old hands. But that's a very nice Mueller scope atop the ATI mount.

I know you don't want this style but Cheaper Than Dirt sells a weaver style mount with bent bolt which comes with hardware to mount it.

I'm probably going to put a after market wood stock from numritch, and use a Barsaka 30mm scope on it. I found this guide on how yo do a nice bolt bending.
