Hey everyone I've been talking to a friend this weekend and have decided that a AK-47 or AKM should be my next toy. A local store has a few WASR 10s (ak) and a Yugoslavian under-folding AK-47 theres a difference of about $150 or so. They are both sold be Century arms and the sights on the WASR's are cant free. I'll probably end up swapping the stock for a collapsible one with a longer LOP. So stock is not an issue. What do y'all think?

You won't be swapping the underfolder for anything else, so it sounds like the Wasr is the way to go.

thanks I've now done some more research and dont think the underfold is what I want. Does anyone have any suggestions on miltiposition stocks, that could be extended to longer than the standard?

Well there are options out there. You could do an external Ace adapter and their longest stock which would definitely be long, or you could do the 8.5 inch stock too. Also you could do a Mako AR stock adapter and then do a typical M4 collapsible stock with a pad which would be pretty long when extended all the way out. Another option might be like an Ace adapter and a Magpul UBR stock or something similar. Also Kvar makes a stock that is NATO length which is longer. If you go to the Ace sight you can see alot of options. I hope you get a nice AK, they are a lot of fun.

Once you have the underfolder, the only viable alternative to extend the length of pull is a rubber buttpad. The E. Bloc nations had a slip on buttpad for grenade launching or some such thing that will slide right on your underfolder.

If you contemplate any other stock, the underfolder is not for you. You would have to replace and rivet in an entirely different rear trunnion, and even then be faced with the gaping holes in the receiver where the underfolder once was.

About 3 entries down the page is the NDS1P receiver. Note the huge holes in the sides.

FWIW.
