One other consideration. With the new BAFTE rules in place, when the current supply of kit parts dries up then the price of AKs manufactured from them are going to go up. So now might be the time to purchase one if you are so inclined. I'm going to wait on an AR and a Thompson until after I'm sure I've gotten the imports I want.

If you're in the market for an AK, don't overlook the rifles from Arsenal, Inc.. I have one of their milled receiver Bulgarian AKs that is really, really nice. IMHO, Arsenal AKs are the Rolls Royce of Kalashnikovs.
