So I unscrewed the one top screw but it won't budge - glued on / apply heat?

[This is not a one-piece thumbhole unit, but a buttstock only, separate from the P-grip]

Thanks.

Traditionally, there are two screws on the stamped AK butt stock.

Disassemble your rifle and look under the recoil spring.

As above, remove the SECOND screw that's under the recoil spring guide slot.

Even with the screws out, some AK stocks are hard to get out. Often the finish used on the stock "glues" it into the receiver.

A good technique to remove a tight stock is to use your hand, or a rubber mallet to strike the top of the stock near the butt in a backward motion, then turn it over and strike the bottom of the butt.

Or, make sure the rifle is unloaded, grab it by the front and bump the butt on a carpeted floor, turn over and bump the other side.
Continue until the stock comes out enough that you can pull it the rest of the way.
