In a pawn shop today I saw a really nice Norinco Mak90 that someone put a side folder, pistol grip & forearm on it they had $800 on it. What are the Mak's worth and is that a good deal?
The gun it self looked like out of the box.

A new car used to cost 2,500 dollars in the 60's......:neener:

I actually hope the price is down to 300 in the next five years, even if I lose some money... But that will be the first time I lost money on a gun. Now I did not think the 800-1000 price was sustainable, but the pricing at 500.00 seems to be. We will see, my crystal ball is broken. :scrutiny:

I dont think a SAR or any AK varrient is that much better. If there is some rare verision and your a collector, maybe. In my experience most Aks that range from decent to well built only differ in appearance, but function very much the same/similar. (Go bang +/- 3" @ 100yds with wolf)

FEG.....: If its a preban / un modified...then yes.....if its in great shape.

If its post ban / modified / operable but noting great, then no!

My humble opinion. I also think that most AKs (Unless your collecting or picky about apearance) are about the same. Lets say 95% of the value can be had in the lower priced AKs. The better ones may shoot somewhat tighter groups with the right ammo, etc. But really, if your feeding them Wolf, brown bear, etc. I think a hand picked WASR gets you 95% or more of what a 800 dollar AK gets you. (Just my opinion).

^^^ Yes AKM's are suppose to be Cheap, Ugly, Reliable, and cost only 1 or 2 days wages. That's for one that goes bang.

On the other hand if you want a decent finish, milled reciever, good trigger, better stock set, decent sights etc it's going to cost more.

Ohio Gun Guy Thanks and I agree.

I have a pre-band under folder it just seats in the safe for looking at. In the days it was fun to buy a case of ammo for 89 bucks and go out shooting but not anymore with ammo prices. I wouldn't mind having a full stock AK but prices are just ridicules.
