Dear All,
I see that AIM surplus is now selling a Galil semi-auto clone for $850 plus tax. I have heard great things about the Galil, however, I am wondering, is that gun worth what Century wants for it? Furthermore, the receiver is made by Ohio Rapid Fire, a company I do not know much of. Is this gun a deal, or is it something that I will regret spending my hard-earned cash on?

I'm definitely not an expert on Galils but to summarize the recent conversations on the Galils --

1) ORF has been making receivers for Galils for a while. There were some early teething issues, but they may good receivers now.

2) Having someone besides Century making the receivers is probably a good thing, judging by the FALs they've produced in the past.

For me an $850 MSRP, with store prices $100 or so less, sounded pretty good. I'm not sure about actually paying $850 plus shipping and receiving FFL's fees -- $900-ish gets you a solid AR and I'd be looking for some range reports on the Centuries before buying. But that's me.
