Ak74 folding stock on an Ak47

Which folding stocks exactly? The triangle side-folders on the AKS-74 and AKS-74U?

Attaching it directly would be a whole lot of work because the back of the receiver needs to be cut on an angle and countored to fit a new rear block (trunion) that has the folder hinge in it.
KVAR sells an assembly that consists of this stock mounted to an attachment block that then bolts up to the tang of a standard wood-stocked AKM.

Notice that the attachment block makes the whole arrangement a couple of inches longer than an actual AKS-74, but some folks like that kind of thing.
Now, your AKM won't have the keeper latch up on the left side near the mag well to keep it folded, but it looks to me like the KVAR kit might have some arrangement in the attachment block to work like that.

Yes, thats the stock I was talking about. The project sounds like a little more work than I would like. I like shorter stocks, so the Kvar attachment is a no go. I do have access to a machine shop, so cutting the reciever would be no big deal, but I'm sure there's more to it then that. Thanks for the reply.

If you have access to a machine shop, it's a walk in the park.
The hard part is getting the stock and rear block and latch hardware set from either Russia or K-Var.

You will be completely tearing down the rifle to achieve this.
To be more specific, you'll be taking it down to the component pieces. The only rivets you won't remove are the ones holding the trigger guard on and the barrel will have to come out of the trunnion.
