AKS-74 gets MD-06 Red Dot and M.I. Mount -- But will it RUN?

Nope! Not at all.

In fact, I bought a case of 7n6 just after the recent kerfuffle with the import ban, and I just checked a closer supplier who was out that week, and his price is now $50 LESS than it was then!

Always Wolf or Hornady stuff if the 7n6 really does ever dry up, but I'm not all that worried about it.

The rifle looks very sharp, AK74s are my favorite rifles. The only front mount that has worked for me is the Ultimak but I when to a side mount M.I. or K-var work great for me.

Someone asked if it was hard to get ammo, plenty of ammo on line. No shortage of ammo whatsoever.

very good looking rifle

Hope the mount works out for you, I have only had good results with long-term use and holding zero with Ultimak rail, M.I. side mount and k-var side mount.

Someone asked if it was hard to get ammo for the Ak74, answer is No. 5.45 is available on most ammo sites.

Well, I put the kit through its first big test on Sunday, in a carbine and pistol class.

We started out the morning by setting the rifles on the ready table and sitting down for the first bit of the lecture portion. 20 minutes later we retrieved our rifles, slung up to shoot and...OH NO!

Yup, that's a big ol' pile of condensation stuck to the inside of the first lens. :(

And it didn't go away all day!

Recoil moved it around a bit, and consolidated the mist into larger droplets...

But I shot through blurry murk for 8 hours.

Obviously, I'll give Midwest and Primary Arms a chance to replace the unit, but I sure can't get back a very frustrating training experience.

Well dang. I was looking forward to hearing how nice that set-up is.

PA should take care of you, but busted kit always puts a damper on range time.

... but busted kit always puts a damper on range time.
'Specially, "Waited all year for my pal/instructor to be back in country and put this class on for us..." range time. But I worked through it and got all I could squeeze out of the class. Can't let "stuff" problems dictate your experience for you. Stuff doesn't always go right. Deal with it and drive on.

Forgot to mention the battery cap that came loose right in the middle of a drill, leaving me with dot, no dot, dot, no dot, no dot..... and then the instructor handing me my cap, laughing, saying, "You lost this back about 25 yards!"

Not sure that's exactly the optic's fault. I suppose I should have double-checked it through the day.

Midwest says this is Primary Arms' problem to handle, so I've contacted them. We shall see.

EDIT: PA says box it up and mail it back.
