Just saw that. I suspecting that BATFE is making a claim about tracings that has absolutely no correlation to the number of AKs being used. Their tracking methodology is changing much more than any increase in the use. Anyone else?

Oh, yeah, 2300 fps is REALLY high velocity for a rifle! Boy, I'd hate to see the 4200 fps-.204 Ruger get put into an evil black rifle! Oh, that's right...

It's so, brutally obvious that these ''journalists'' don't do much research when they write this stuff.

Are they howling about actual AKs, or semi-auto clones?

The author is an activist on the issue who has been peddling this same load of BS for months, in dozens of stories, and making the same mistakes/distortions. Google "sedensky ak-47" to see what I mean.

Ok, so we're looking at approximately 800% increase in the number of "AK-type guns", and a 11% increase in the number of tracings of these weapons used in crimes? Sounds like a net decrease to me...

I -for one- can see through his plan, To link these very very tragic stories and events to AK47-type rifles.

What merits the AK action to such a negative attack? Success. This is like a person purposefully slipping on a rich mans floor to get some cash.

. . He's the type that fights the very people who defend his personal rights.
