Al Franken...................now there's a model socialist Democrat. Last I heard battery was a criminal offense. The victim will see no recompense, HE'S AL FRANKEN FER CRISSAKES !!!!! :fire:

You know, ....................in ninja school they teach you how to counter that "come from behind" move with a forceful elbow to the face !:D

Gee, Carlos, seems like Al Franken should be your hero. He's only practicing what you preach. A couple quotes:

Well, at least in jail they'd be safe from the likes of people like me.............

Free speech is still free speech but there can be consequences and recourse for it, hence me putting my size 12 Danner up some hippie, birkenstock wearin', tree huggers fourth point of contact.

You expressed those sentiments in this thread.

You aren't the only one who has expressed such sentiments over the last year or so. Others, here or at TFL, expressed similar or such variations as wanting to smack anti-war protestors or pacifists. No, there's not much room for feeling superior to Al Franken on this incident.

there's a big difference between wanting to do something and actually doing it. I've wanted to hit people on a few occasions, however, the difference between me and al franken is that I, being a civilized person, would not hit someone unless it was in self defense.

You're hairsplitting, gentlemen. He did exactly what others here have expressed a desire to do. If the subject was child molestation would you see such a wide gulf between desiring and doing? Not me. I agree with the Pope and Jimmy Carter, as well as a whole load of noted theologians: by desiring, you have already committed the sin in your heart.

OTOH, it is always amusing to see variations on Homer Simpson's "but it's cute when I do it!" defense.

Those must be some big hairs. You, the pope, and jimmy carter can agree all you want, but there are also plenty of people (myself included) who see a huge difference between saying "man, I'd like to kick that guy's ???" and actually doing it.

Here's the deal: there's lots of talk about honor and honesty at this board. If you say it, I'll take you at your word that you mean it. Don't mean it? Then don't say it. Otherwise, you come off as, at best, a hypocrite. At worst, you come off as having less balls than Al Franken.

I don't understand, surely you can see the difference between someone saying they'd LIKE to do it and actually doing it?

There's nothing hypocritical about it. I don't understand why you can't see the difference.
