al Qaeda losing support in Iraq

I certainly welcome as many Democrats, Liberals, Progressives, whatever into the safe gun-totin' and shootin' fold. But I suspect that gun ownin' might cause them to think about other rights and might just turn them into independent, capitalist, Republicans!

That would probably be very good for the Repub party.

Actually...we should pull together a similar RKBA campaign for all the RINOs out there.:banghead:

I'm a registered Independent, and likely to stay that way. I see people like me as a hedge against those in both parties who would curtail our freedoms.

You'll probably like tonight's post then, as I had a chance to talk to some NRA lobbyists about that very issue. The NRA might have been an RNC toady in the 80s and 90s out of necessity, but not any longer! Enjoy: http://progunprogressive.com/?p=21

EDIT--we're not talkin about Iraq and AQ much, so here's thread relevant info: perhaps the fact that there's no RKBA arms in the Iraqi constitution shouldn't be that surprising, as a democratic republic isn't really the end goal for those in power amongst the Shia community there, but rather a hedge against foreign powers and internal dissidents. Unfortunate, but I wonder if they'll evolve to have such a thing. Gun control is a de facto loser in Iraq, that's for sure.

The Iraqis wrote their constitution. If they don't want RKBA, they don't have to have it. I question their judgement, but not their right to decide for themselves.

Isn't that what freedom is all about?

Insurgents (terrorists) cannot move freely or for that matter win if they do not have the support of the people in a country, that is why this vote is so important. Already there is reports of Iraq's warning our troops in many places about IED"s,etc. The terrorist attacking the Iraq people lately may be a big mistake and turn the people against them.

Not "may" but it has already been taking place. The terrorists have driven the Iraqi's and kurds into US hands.

The gun licensing restriction in the Iraq constitution was drafted by the US State Dept. That provision has been there since the original boilerplate draft was offered to the working group. It's the new model for democracy, don't you know? It is the end goal for the US also, completely in line with the UN attitude toward gun ownership and world government. The UK and Australia already bought in, and Canada is working on it. Socialism depends upon people going quietly. Only soldiers and policemen should have guns.

Actually Real Gun, firearms ownership by private citizens is not mentioned one way or the other in the final draft of the Iraqi Constitution... at least, I could not find it mentioned when I read it a few nights ago.
