All-Out WAR?

I am firmly convinced that if the situation is reversed, the Republicans would act in the same manner.

Yup. And the Republicans will push too far and it will swing back to the Democrats. Rinse and repeat.

As a staunch conservative, I hate to see this keep happening. But when its 51-49 there is no alternative.

On the other hand, if the Dems keep with the Howard Dean/Michael Moore/Moveon.org stuff the trend might get broken.

On the other other hand, that might just lead the Republicans to become even less conserative than they are now.

A 50-50 (or 51-49) nation is NOT good for long term solutions.

The Wall St Journal reported this morning (Thurs) that many in the Democratic Party are wondering how to avoid losing in national elections, yet again. Many want the party to declare an all out war on the Republicans, no holds barred dirty obstructing etc etc.

And, ummmm this would differ from their current tactics, how??

Er, Roland, it just so happens that around half the wheat grown in the U.S. is exported. Much of other grains, as well...

Yes, but worked acerage decreases in the US every year. My point was that we will not be the low price of soybeans, so when the Chinese buy them (and they want a genetically engineered variety that has a protien that fish can digest, they hope to use it as a cheap fish feed) they won't be from the US. They will get them cheaper elsewhere.

Also I talked to a guy at the Co-Op about this, and he said a lot of our export soy and wheat is organic crop grown up around the Great Lakes, which goes to Scandanavian countries. We still import soy and wheat because what the FDA allows to be used in US food can be grown cheaper elsewhere. What those countries equivalents require can't. China isn't in the market for the grain we produce, they want it cheap and they want fish food.
