So it doesn't matter who they are replaced with - it won't change the 5 - 4 vote.

I hope this saves some bandwidth.

I doubt it. I'm sure someone will post that their buddy at the LGS told them that a cousin (the one who said the AWB is being reimplemented via treaty) heard that Souter was about to change his mind.

Hardly.

If you think the Gang of Four was anti-gun, just wait and see who Obama and a liberal Congress put on the Court.

All it would take is for two anti-gun activists to influence one other SCJ, and it's game over for 2nd Amendment issues.

My buddy (who is also a gun shop owner) at the LGS has this cousin (who is a cop)....he's got factual evidence that Souter is changing his decision on Heller.

Good Lord! That does make sense now. Clearly, Obama is forcing him out to replace him with a clone of Justice Brennan that was created by the NWO!

Souter doesn't like DC (and I'll go out on a limb and say they don't like him either), Ginsberg has had surgery for cancer, and Stevens is ancient. If any of them go in the next 4 or 8, Obama'd be hard pressed to find worse replacements, so it shouldn't change the 5-4 makeup on the firearms rights issue for the worse; outside chance change for the better.

Especially when you consider that the

opinion of the liberal legal academy has been changing with regard to the 2nd Amendment. A lot of liberal legal scholars have come around to the position that, while they wish it were not so, the 2nd amendment really does prevent the kinds of sweeping gun control that they would like to see become law. That in itself is a huge change from 20 years ago.

The ground has shifted under everyone's feet in the last few years. It'll take a few more for us all to figure out where we stand...

But I think we're gonna like it.
