Got my J&G and SOG catalogues in the mail today, also have the FFL03 in with Century, AIM Surplus and Classic Arms (and others, but those are the five I was most concerned with getting established at).

Assuming that price is equal (or doesn't matter), of the four, whose 'very good' or 'excellent' grade would you trust the most?

I've always had best luck with AIM. I've gotten some good stuff from Century, SOG and J&G too, but AIM tends to be more realistic in their quality. I've gotten some real dogs from Century and SOG and usually won't buy anything from them that's not excellent or unissued.

Best overall quality and service, AIM. I've also gotten some nice things from Classic Arms-but that lady can be surly on the phone. More hit and miss from SOG, but they are very nice, and their customer service has been good for me.
Century has more uneven quality, as they are a big importer/wholesaler, and there is no hand selecting, etc. They are cheap on their shipping, though.
Only bought one gun from J&G, they were fine, quality was good.
Also send your C&R to:
http://www.allans-armory.com/aa.php
and
http://www.empirearms.com/
they are a little more expensive, but have great quality, and often things you can't find elsewhere.
Good luck!:)

I've bought about 15 c&r's from SOG, and have been very happy, every time, with the price and condition of what I got.Only items I have that I didnt get from them, were guns they dont carry (or at least I've never seen them listed in 3 years now).Excllent customer service too.

They are all good Empire arms is great Dennis is a great guy to deal with . Allen's armory all good people Good luck Doyle

Generally, I turn to Classic Arms or to AIM. It depends on what I'm looking for. With AIM, I can order rifles without picking up a phone, and that's a plus.

Classic Arm hands down.

They are always entirely honest about the condition of their guns. I have had them turn me away because the guns they had were not what I was looking for.....they are honest.

If they have excellent condition its going to be excellent.

I have been hosed by SOG once....but have since had a few successful orders.

I ordered once from AIM and wasnt impressed. I got a broken gun and it was a 5 week fiasco to get the parts to fix it. They were supposed to send them but all I got was excuses.

Classic has always treated me well. The lady on the phone has been nice to me--went and searched for a gun for me to be sure of the bore and condition. One of my regular places to buy.

AIM-good guns w/accurate descriptions. Once had a problem with a CZ82. Called Eric. Another was sent posthaste, and a UPS sticker in the box for the return.

SOG-bought ammo there, but no guns. Good service, no complaints.

Dan's Sporting Goods. Excellent guns, great service. Dan will treat you right.

Family Firearms & Finishes-Todd Lacher picks out guns from SOG and AIM. Truly handpicks. I've bought from Todd and been very pleased. Todd will only sell what he would want for himself. A little more, but well worth it to me.
