Found two pounds of alliant 10x that I plan on loading up some speer 150s with. Any good or bad experiences with this powder before I load em up.
Yes 308. I have 223 also but the tables call for bullets way lighter than I useA bit of 10x under a 110gr Vmax in my 6.8spc makes for an extremely accurate round. No experience with it in any other loads. Are you loading 308w?
I'll load it in 30 30 barring a better answer. Seems well suited.Reloader 10 was introduced back when the PPC cartridges were gain popularity in benchrest circles. As intended, It was well matched for the 6PPC and initially well received. But it also proved to be a dirty powder, even at igh pressure loading. Meaning the initial enthusiasm soon evaporated and BR shooters returning their former favorites. Along with other major changes by Alliant, production of the Reloader line was changed and #10 is now make in Sweden and marked with the "NEW" label. It is now a much different and cleaner burning powder.and ideal for small caliber target and varmint calibers.
Load data tops out at 52 grains in there manual. What bullets did you use? Did you go heavier?I burned up about 4 lbs of it in 223 loads until I found TAC now it is seldom used anymore. Still have a pound in the pile somewhere.
If you have any load information for a 55 I would appreciate it. Its definitely not a far reach but using 55s opens up a lot more options. If not I'm going to extrapolate.I purchased a few pounds cheap from another reloader and loaded a lot of 45 grain bullets I purchased for my 22 Hornet that were too thick jacketed for use in my Mini 14's. Then I got into bolts and AR's consequently I discovered TAC and 62-63 grain bullets. Have tried up into the mid 70's but liked the 62 FMJ/ SP for accurate blasting ammo. 55's now in the Mini's.

View attachment 999514 Here is a pix of the 2009 Alliant reloaders guide. IIRC my load was CCI 400, mixed brass and either 22.5 or 22.6 grains of 10X at the same OAL as a Remington factory 55 FMJ.
