Alliant load data

You will find more data in their reloading manual. Download or request a paper copy.

Yes, thank you for the link. I downloaded the manual. AJC1's comment about a lack of data from Alliant still stands though. I checked a couple bullets and chamberings I load for. Only 1 load for Barnes 150 gr. TSX in both .300WM and .30-06, and that's Reloder 16. Barnes shows data for both RL17 and RL19. In fact, Barnes shows RL17 as the highest velocity with the 150 TTSX! So Alliant has at least three good powders for but only publishes data for one of them.

No data for any solid copper bullets (TSX, TTSX, GMX, E-tip) for the .25-06. Barnes shows that RL19 and RL22 are good in .25-06 with their bullets. No data for the 110 Accubond for .25-06. Nosler lists RL19 with that bullet.

I have some Alliant powders, but I tend to stock up on Hodgdon/IMR because their published data is so much better. Alliant is not very interested in selling powder to reloaders, unless you are using Speer bullets. Must have some other priority.

One would think that bullet makers would test to give loads to sell product. One would also think that powder manufacturers would try and show as many loads as possible that their products support to maximize sales. The popular calibers should be well represented like 308, 30-06, and 30-30, not to mention the new 6.5 craze. You should be able to go to a powder manufacturer website pick a powder and print a list of everything it's good for. I keep getting it's not optimal for that cartridge as a lame excuse. Can anyone say what cartridge unique is best in.... but there is a load for everything with it.

Beats me exactly why but two things come to mind: liability and ROI. There’s probably some pretty high exposure in printing load data. And, there’s certainly a lot of cost in testing. Question is, what’s the potential return on investment versus the costs?

I used a pound of siholloette this last month in 357. More people would probably do the same if they provided data. I havent bought unique because it's not available, and when I run out of 2400 I'm likely in the same boat. Once people test and find good loads I believe they stay with that load and move to another project. I would love a 170 cast bullet listing with reloader 10x but none exists. I'm sure it will work and its something I will be working on when I run out of 150s.
