found one of them also for $250 it looks good too, no extra stuff with it , bolt seems a little loose.
think it has 1944 on it
no pic yet

wood is in great shape, small dings here and there nothing bad, blue is 50%
this is a consignment gun
all the other Finn they had were $400-up

always heard fins would be good to get what say you guys on $250

i have a 91-30
M44 RUSSIAN
Hungarian M44 made in 1953

A 1944 dated Finn marked M38 would be a very unusual gun. Do you mean the rifle is 'SA' marked, or what do you mean by Finn?
Well worth $250 to me if it's really a Finn marked M38.:what:

i could have copied it down wrong from the hang tag because i thought it strange m38 and 1944 stamped on it , most likely a m39 but it is a Finnish Mosin Nagants
but takes a slide on bayonet and the m38 did too i think.

receiver and barrel have matching numbers bolt does not.

will most likely pick it up to go with the other Mosin Nagants i have

yes it has SA ON IT

The M-38 was a Carbine the Soviets issued, previous to the next carbine , the M-44 with a fixxed on side folding bayonet.
The M-38 wasnt issued with a bayonet, but most likely took one any way.
Finding an M-38 made in 1944 marked "SA" in the box would be a VERY nice catch, indeed!! The Finns and Soviets came to a conclusion of hostilitys that summer, and SA marked M38 as well as M-44's are rare.

The M-38 was manufactured untill 1945, but few were made that year as M-44 production took over.

If its an M-39 , it will have the 'pistol grip' swell in the stock for your grasp, an M-38 is like an M-91, M-91/30, M-44 ect.ect. with a "straight stock"

I think if you go back and have a second look, be sure of what you looking at. If it is such, good luck! I hope you get it!

A M38 is similar to the M44 short rifle, without the bayonet. Look at the right side of the stock along the barrel. If there is a groove along the top of the stock, it is a M44 stock. A M39 is similar in size to a Garand. Bolts are loose on a Mosin Nagant. The bolt head is the only thing that locks up when the bolt is closed and determines the head space. It is a three piece bolt. They started making Mosin Nagant rifles in 1891 and the only thing that got changed was the length of the rifle and a few other things to make production easier. Good rifles....chris3

pic to come asap (i hope their better then before) hang tag says m39 date is 1944

no place on stock for bayonet like my M44

That is the "Apex" of the MosinNagant!

The most accurate and comfortable to use Mosin variation out there.

If the bore is sweet, Id buy it NOW........(Oh ya, and if I had the $$~~LOL!!~~)

Sako Rocks!

You got a Sako for $250--always a good deal.

The M39 is one of my all-time favorite rifles. Shooting it is a joy. It's big, with a heavy barrel and semi pistol grip stock It absorbs recoil very well. The bolts typically are pretty loose-feeling. They're supposed to be on Mosins. Should have very good and reliable feeding with good ammo. Try a variety of rounds with it to see what yours prefers to shoot.

The bayonets exist for the M39 but were very rarely used in practice. Finns did not do much bayonet charging. They had the novel idea of actually shooting the Russians with the rifles before they closed to bayonet range. Worked well for them in 1939.
