Finally got one... so got ruskie -44, -91, Hungarian 1953, and now a Finn Mosin... barrel is amazing, hex reciever... over stamped 1933...
So assuming its a capture...

In great shape!

I will post pics in next few days...

... saw a "flyer" the Finns distributed during the winter war a while back... was promising food and shelter to surrendering troops plus money for weapons with prices that the russians could surrended with... from pistol to tanks?!?

if anybody has the link to that, I appreciate it!

Once I get my pics up, lets make this the Finnish mosin pic threat, with Phukkos in photos if you got 'em...

Cant wait to shoot it.

I have both Soviet and Finnish mosins. My Soviets generally get 3-4 MOA. My Finns all get under 2 MOA. Great rifles.
I would also recommend the movie Ambush. It is about the Continuation War whereas "The Winter War" is about the earlier start of hostilities with the Soviets. The Finns had to depend on tactics and greater accuracy to compete in battle with the much larger and well equiped (tanks, aircraft, etc.) Soviet military.
In the attached picture from top to bottom are:
M28, M39 VKT, M91/30 Izhevsk Finn capture, M91/30 Tula Finn capture, M91 Tikka.

I love the M91 Finns. They remained in active service into the 40's. They can be very accurate if your eyes are sharp enough to keep that blade in focus way out on the end of the long barrel.

The photo is blurry, but is that an "F" stamp on the receiver? Those are pretty uncommon. Does it have the subsequent "D" stamp as well?

It's probably not a Winter war capture, since the Soviets in 1939 had gone over to the 91/30. But it may well have been a WWI era capture that made its way to Finland, or something in the arsenals captured during independence. What's the tang date?

feel i need a phukko now.

Here's a good place to get a puukko:

I have the Kauhavalainen Puukko by Järvenpää...

...and a few Marttiini knives too:

Nice find! Sometimes "F" is said to denote Swedish steel barrels, but I've doubted that and yours cannot possibly be Swedish steel. It could indicate a pre-D chamber, but that doesn't make any sense either since this is a Russian rifle and by definition has a roomy chamber able to take the D-166 bullet. I've never seen the "F" on a captured M91.

+1 to dealing with Ragweed Forge...Ragnar has great prices and wicked fast shipping.

Congrats on the Finnish Mosin, I don't have one yet, but it's on the short list for me.

Finnlander rifles are worse than Lay's potato chips. I have 19. I have to give some serious thought about one of those knives shown by toivo. chris3
